The Sigma Lambda Beta Education Foundation is proud to announce Brother Jareth Quintero-Opatowski from the Theta Beta Chapter at the University of North Texas as a recipient of the 2022 Opportunity for Wisdom scholarship. Brother Jareth will be able to apply this $1000 scholarship towards his college expenses. Please read his letter and view his message below.
To the Donors of the Sigma Lambda Beta Education Foundation,
Thank you so much for creating the opportunity to provide a scholarship for brothers who are not only honoring but as well as exemplifying the principles of the Fraternity. It is important to award the accomplishments of brothers because the establishment of this scholarship helps recognize the hard work brothers have put in academically and for their chapter while representing our core principles.
Words can not explain how honored I am to be one of the recipients of the 2022 Opportunity for Wisdom Scholarship provided by the Sigma Lambda Beta Education Foundation. One of my best experiences of being a brother so far was being able to be an Assistant Member Educator and help cross a line.
As a first generation student, I am proud to say that I will be entering my last year of college, and this scholarship will surely help reduce the costs I may have for my last year. I know this scholarship will overall be an important factor in aiding my goal of graduating with a B.A. in Political Science and a B.S in Psychology, with a minor in Spanish, and two certificates in Latinx Mexican-American Studies and Leadership Studies. My plan after graduating is to attend law school, in hopes of becoming either immigration or criminal justice lawyer, which will lead me to help better our legal system and provide support for the communities around me. I am beyond grateful for the support, the foundation provided for my dreams.
Without this brotherhood, I am certain I would not have found a place where my goals and values have been represented as I am continuously supported by an amazing group of brothers. From the moment I joined Sigma Lambda Beta, this brotherhood has been not only a key supporter in discovering the potential among men but as well as a home away from home for many. I appreciate all the opportunities and resources this organization has provided me and so many other brothers. I know I will continue to be an active brother and push our brotherhood to new lengths of success unimaginable.
